Well.. Hello everyone!

I've been super-duper-abso-freakin-lutely-over-my-head-expialidociously busy these days!

ok to make a long story short.. I've been to a wedding recently.. and aaaaaaaaaaaah.. I have to let out.. I don't want to be judgemental or anything.. actually yes I do LOL I love blogging for that sole reason.

It has been an experience, almost like a movie.. at times I almost cried, I laughed, I was scared, had tears in my eyes, got angry, and surely disappointed.. but then laughed hysterically at the end!

What's the trend in Kuwaiti weddings you ask me?

Ok, so here's the deal: some women wore identical dresses or jumpsuits or whatever (I wish they read my previous post before going) so we couldn't help but compare; who wore it best?

Then comes the hottest trend of this season and I was so sarcastically sad that I didn't catch up on this new craze..

GLOVES..

Long, over the elbow gloves.. in all sorts of colors! but mainly black, and white, with jewelry on top.. now how about that for an 80's tacky revival!

I am sure they meant no harm and wanted to pull it off as graceful and elegant as possible, but I'm afraid that's impossible. These women lacked taste, poise, class, style etc.. for they had too much colors painted on their faces, some beehives and a small garden growing on their heads with little nests and chains made out of hair. And to top it all, disturbing jewelry.

They were hoping to pull off an Audrey Hepburn on us, but sadly, it's the whole "B"ackage

ok next comes the

big, thick, boho reverse french braids that end in tiny tails is the hottest thing in K town..

Why do we pay loads for Haute Couture?

Haute Couture is French for very high fashion. The word “couture” means hand working, needlework, dress making and "haute" means high.

Haute Couture is the opposite of mass production, where it's intended for mass distribution and consumption. Couture is perfection, artistry, fine crafting and high style all joined to create a garment of fine art.

The majority can't afford haute couture for it costs a fortune. Dresses can run up to hundreds of thousands! it's crazy I know.

We live in times where nothing is personalized anymore. Mass production and copying is the norm. And if you want personalized, it's comes with a "haute" price tag. 30 years ago, all the big brands were so exclusive and all about bespoke tailoring. Each piece possessed so much thought and passion which shows in every single detail.

People are now hungry for exclusivity, thus the vintage clothing industry has been blooming ever since mass production took it's toll on the fashion industry.

nowadays girls became more brand conscience and aware of every new trend, and the accessibility to designers through magazines and the internet has made it easier.

Whenever you walk into weddings/events, you just hope that no one is wearing what you're wearing, for people start playing the game of "who wore it best?"

It's always fun to watch 2 or 3 women wearing the same article of clothing, but when it comes to me, although I try to ignore it and I know I have my own personal style and touches that aren't comparable, it still feels icky being conscience about it the whole time. I might sound vain, but it's the truth.

It's always best to invest in key pieces of each season that are timeless. shift your ideals to start thinking about quality rather than quantity. let's say you have a budget of KD 5'000 annually for handbags, try distributing it wisely. Instead of buying 6 bags, you might end up buying 1 or 2 beautiful bags that aren't so mainstream to last you the whole season and beyond.

If you want to stand out and be different, here's my tip to avoid such situations. Basically you have five choices:

1. Look for new upcoming, freshly graduated, designers that you admire and no one has heard of

2. design your own clothes

3. buy one-off Haute Couture pieces. (costly and time consuming, worth it if it's an immediate relative's wedding)

4. buy Vintage

5. never wear the same designer from top to bottom, always mix and match to create your own style.

My Verdict: LOVE IT to the point of licking the walls!

Update: I took them out of the freezer, left them out on the counter for 30 minutes.

Ice was still super hard, I had to break the part that was out of the peep hole in order for it to "slide" out.

my shoes were wet, my feet were cold, and it was eh.. a bit stretched, but still snug.

So, not really worth it.

The show was only saved after freelancers Daniela Agnelli and Natalie Hubbarb stepped in to help Fast, working into the early hours to ensure all the designs were ready for the big day. (Whew!)
Happily, it was a great success, with three models from the agency 12+ UK gracing the catwalk. (YAY!)

This summer, I've seen the good (rarely), the bad, and the UGLY.. so I have some tips for the latter..

before anyone bombards me with comments like:

"this is a matter of personal taste"

"7araam 3alaich mo kel ilnaas"

"everyone is free and is entitled to wear whatever they please"

I know..

BUT..

This is my blog which represents my personal taste, concepts, and vision..

either you agree or disagree, is entirely up to you..

So, after this nice polite introduction, let me get down to business.. not so politely lol

DON'T wear tight clothes, tube tops and low-waist pants if you're overweight. The muffin-top look is EXTREMELY unattractive.

DO wear simple plain (the less the print the better) clothes that cover up your problem areas and flatter your stronger features.

DON'T wear anything fake.. even if you think poeple won't realise it's fake, YOU know it is.. and you will not impress me.

(I can spot a fake from miles away so beware >:)

DO wear authentic articles that you can afford.

DON'T overdue your makeup in the day time. You'll end up looking like a drag queen.

DO differentiate between day and night makeup. Apply simple eyeliner, mascara, lip gloss and a hint of blush. You'll instantly feel lighter and would nail the day look.

DON'T match the color of your handbag with your shoes, belt, accessories, head band and lipstick. Boring.

DO feel free to shock us with your unique style and color combination.

DON'T wear skinny jeans if you're a man.. it's absolutely gross!!

DO throw them out immediately if you own any!

DON'T wear neon colors from head to toe! You don't want to end up looking like a punk (matching 7ijab, nail polish, lipstick, shoes, bag.. no no NO!!

DO wear one neon article of clothing or accessory at a time.. blend with neutral colors..

DON'T wear Juicy "training" or any other tracksuit with heavy makeup and back-combing.. wrong combo.. (3alabonna casual)

DO wear tracksuits for chalet.. Jam3iyah.. visiting friends. That's it!

DON'T ignore your chipped nail polish. It's cheap and vulgar.

DO maintain healthy looking nails with weekly manis and pedis. Nail polish is always a plus.

DON'T wear uncomfortable new season platforms just for the sake of parading them. You'll end up with plenty of blisters and a retarded walk.

DO wear mid heels and comfy high ones only if you can work it!

DON'T do the MC Hammer/Harem pants. Period. (kids and waiters in lebanese restaurants are exceptions)

DO wear any other pants.. but harem lol

DON'T wear crunchies, big bows or small feathered birds on your head if you're over 16 years of age.

DO wear subtle headpieces and hair accessories with gold and silver accents.

DON'T frown.

DO smile :)

I've always walked by Hotel Chocolat on Kings Rd. without the slightest interest in entering.
The name sounded like a cheesy imitation of La Maison du Chocolat. So I decided no, I won't go.
Despite of the delicious display of mouth watering chocolates, whispering "taste me" every time I glimpsed while passing by, I always ignored it.. thinking I don't need it, with internal tears..
What really invited me to walk in this time is the desperation for something sweet , like right NOW!
As I entered the store, full of scepticism for I heard it was British, I decided to step in with no expectations.
"Let's take a quick look" I said, as I was in a hurry. Well, well, well! my definition of quick was 25 minutes of mmmmm's and aaaaaaah's and embraceable chocolate bars.
I nearly bought everything.. seriously..
Kids do not dare compete with me!

I will not review each and every piece I tried, 'cause it'll take me ages and will keep me away from my precious coco's!

So I'll make it short and unbelievably sweet..

An invitation makes it or breaks it for me.
I sometimes decide on going to an event based on how much I admire the invitation, unless it's a close family thing. (ba3ad shinsawee)
The whole purpose of invitations is to inform you about an event taking place, what's it all about, where it's located, at what time, what date, RSVP and all..
So all you need to send me is something very clear and not confusing, stating all of the above.

I don't need invitations in embellished jewelry boxes with fake crystals and dangling little birdies.
I don't need to look for the invitation between silk flowers and potpourri.
I don't need an invitation embossed on clear plexi-glass, which I have to carry against some light in order for me to see, and it's so freakin heavy I almost burst a nerve! (shda3wa lol)
I don't neeeeeed all of this!! really!!

All I'm asking for is a simple card.. nothing more..
You can have beautiful creative cards with lovely designs and flattering color combinations that are simply gorgeous! makes me look forward to the event..

please don't over do it! save your money and spend it on something worthwhile..

I know I know.. I'm probably the last person in Kuwait to try "Slider Station"

so this isn't a review per se, it's just my personal opinion lol (3an il fashla)

went for lunch, early-ish

(in Kuwait, any lunch before 3pm is considered early!)

I think it's nicer for lunch but I can't judge since I haven't tried it for dinner.. yet!

I liked how it's small and cosy.. the bar area is superb and comfy..

atmosphere was not something wow for "bilad barra" but for us, it is something!

my friend, who is semi-regular, ordered for us.

But of course we couldn't try everything fa lazim another try, but I'll give it 2 weeks or so for digesting purposes!

everything was quite so yummy..

Food I most liked:

Hamour burger (with the red bun)

Obama burger

fried shrimp appetizer (supposedly new fa YOOHOO! lol)

but the fries were a bit disappointing,, too frail and not as juicy as I would like them to be..

hmmm.. o bass I guess.. :)

I've been listening to the radio quite a lot lately.

I got bored with my ipod, CD, etc.

Same repetitive songs.

So listening to the Radio gives you a nice variety and keeps you updated with what's new.

As I was switching from Radio Sawa (because of the news feed) to Kuwait FM 103.7.. I said: "7athi hal ghniyyah"

and of course it wasn't a song..

usually the tweeting sound (when it's prayer time) is my luck.. but this time it was a man talking and joking about something I just missed.
